Established in 1963 and currently a subject interest group of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), the Molten Salt Discussion Group (MSDG) has been actively involved in the field of high and room temperature molten salts, including ionic liquids, for over five decades.

The Group aims to promote research exchange and industrial application of molten salts and ionic liquids, and has functioned as the focal point of a network of about 300 experienced scientists, engineers and other stakeholders in the UK and the rest of the world. The Group offers professional advice to members of other communities, and actively encourages younger people to engage in molten salts research and commercial uses. MSDG membership is offered to all registered attendees of the Group’s main activities, particularly its Summer Meeting and Christmas Meeting every year, whilst RSC Members can join the Group free by selecting MSDG as one of their three subject interest groups. More details about the Group can be found in the webpages given below.

The 16th EUCHEM will have an MSDG Day in its programme, and the MSDG offers bursaries to its members to contribute to this EUCHEM. The MSDG Day follows the same pattern as the daily event of the EUCHEM, and welcomes all attendees, with or without a presentation.

Further information about the MSDG can be found in the following webpages which all are accessible to MSDG members and non-members.
